Mobile County Education Association Congratulates Vanessa Mix on Global Learning Fellowship
The Mobile County Education Association (MCEA) proudly recognizes Vanessa Mix, a Spanish instructor at Phillips Preparatory School, for being selected as a 2026 Global Learning Fellow through the NEA Foundation.
Mix was one of just 50 educators selected nationwide for the yearlong professional development program, which helps educators strengthen their global competency skills and prepare students for an increasingly interconnected world.
As part of the fellowship, Mix traveled to South Africa during the summer of 2026, where she explored the country's history, culture, and educational system while gaining new perspectives on equity, inclusion, and global education. The experience also allowed her to build international connections and bring valuable insights back to her classroom and community.
“I returned inspired, empowered, and better equipped to create meaningful learning experiences that connect my students to the world,” Mix shared.
MCEA congratulates Vanessa on this outstanding achievement and celebrates her commitment to professional growth, cultural awareness, and creating meaningful learning opportunities for her students.
